Qualifying Life Event

Generally, you may change your benefit elections only during the annual open enrollment period.  However, you may also change your benefit elections during the year if you experience a qualifying life event, including:

  • Marriage
  • Divorce or legal separation
  • Birth of your child
  • Death of your spouse, domestic partner or dependent child
  • Adoption of or placement for adoption of your child
  • Change in employment status of employee, spouse/domestic partner or dependent child
  • Qualification by the Plan Administrator of a child support order for medical coverage
  • Entitlement to Medicare or Medicaid

You have up to 30 days from a qualifying life event to make changes to your benefits.

Click on the “Enroll” tab and go to ADP/Benefits/Enrollments/Report a Life Change to begin your benefits enrollment.  You may be required to upload proof of the event.

If you do not see a life event to match your event, please email Benefits@benesch.com letting them know that date of your life event so that they can open a Miscellaneous Life Event in ADP so that you can enroll.

Reminder – You can change your HSA, Transit & Parking FSA and 401(k) election at any time throughout the year. You do not need to have a Qualified Life Event to do so.

Turning Age 26 is a Qualified Life Event

Once you turn age 26, you will no longer be eligible to be covered as a dependent on your parent’s health insurance.

As a full-time or part-time employee working at least 24 hours per week, you are eligible to enroll in Benesh Benefits. You have 30 days from the date your current health insurance ends (on your parent’s benefit plan) to enroll.

If you have a dependent turning 26, their Medical, Dental, Vision and Identity Theft coverage will end on the last day of the month they turn 26. All other benefits will end the day after they turn 26. COBRA paperwork will be mailed from Chard Snyder, should they need to continue their coverage for a period of time.

Open Enrollment is November 3 – 21, 2025

Open enrollment is your annual opportunity to review your current benefit coverage and make needed changes for the upcoming plan year. During open enrollment you may add, change, or decline coverage. In addition, you may add and/or drop dependents during this time.

If you do not wish to make changes to your medical, dental, vision, or voluntary benefits, no action is required. (Please note, if you wish to have orthodontics included in dental, you will need to enroll in the new Dental Buy-UP Plan for 2026.)

However, all employees choosing to participate in the Employee Contribution of the Flexible Spending Accounts MUST make an election, as prior elections will not roll over.

New for 2026

You can choose between two dental plans, the Base Plan or the Buy-Up Plan.

Buy-Up Plan includes:

  • $2,500 annual maximum
  • Orthodontics benefits with a $2,500 lifetime maximum
  • To Go Carryover Feature – If you have a dental service that applies to your annual maximum during the benefits plan year, To Go allows unused annual maximum dollars to be applied to your dental plan for the next year — up to twice the amount of your plan’s annual maximum. Plus, your To Go carryover balance never expires, so you keep the additional dollars until you need them.
