Qualifying Life Event
Generally, you may change your benefit elections only during the annual open enrollment period. However, you may also change your benefit elections during the year if you experience a qualifying life event, including:
Marriage
Divorce or legal separation
Birth of your child
Death of your spouse, domestic partner or dependent child
Adoption of or placement for adoption of your child
Change in employment status of employee, spouse/domestic partner or dependent child
Qualification by the Plan Administrator of a child support order for medical coverage
Entitlement to Medicare or Medicaid
You have up to 30 days from a qualifying life event to make changes to your benefits.
Click on the “Enroll” tab and go to ADP/Benefits/Enrollments/Report a Life Change to begin your benefits enrollment. You may be required to upload proof of the event.
If you do not see a life event to match your event, please email Benefits@benesch.com letting them know that date of your life event so that they can open a Miscellaneous Life Event in ADP so that you can enroll.
Reminder – You can change your HSA, Transit & Parking FSA and 401(k) election at any time throughout the year. You do not need to have a Qualified Life Event to do so.
Turning Age 26 is a Qualified Life Event
Once you turn age 26, you will no longer be eligible to be covered as a dependent on your parent’s health insurance.
As a full-time or part-time employee working at least 24 hours per week, you are eligible to enroll in Benesh Benefits. You have 30 days from the date your current health insurance ends (on your parent’s benefit plan) to enroll.
